A LITTLE HELP DECIDING
Make random teams with even group sizes
Use the team generator for classroom activities, game nights, or workshops. It shuffles the names and assigns each person to one group, keeping team sizes within one person of each other.
How to use it
- Replace the sample with up to 100 names, separated by new lines or commas. Give people who share a name distinct labels, such as Alex R. and Alex S.
- Choose Number of teams or People per team, then adjust the value. Check the size preview and decide whether to choose random captains.
- Select Make the teams. You can rename each team, copy all teams, or remix the list for a new random arrangement.
Ideas to try
- A workshop with 23 people
Choose five teams to get three groups of five and two groups of four. Everyone is included once.
- A classroom activity with 12 people
Choose three teams for four people per group. Turn on captains if each group needs a spokesperson.
Common questions
Are the teams balanced by skill?
The generator balances the number of people, not skill, experience, or other characteristics. Assignment is random. If your activity needs a particular mix of abilities, review the result and make those adjustments separately.
Why did a name disappear from the list?
Repeated names are removed, ignoring capitalization and extra spaces at the start or end. Add an initial or another distinct label for different people with the same name. Only the first 100 distinct names are included.
How does People per team work?
That number is a maximum group size, not a promise that every team will be that size. For 10 people with a size of four, the generator makes three teams of four, three, and three. Choose a setup that creates at least two teams.
