A LITTLE HELP DECIDING

Pick a name from your own list

Choose one person for a turn, a task, or a game. Each eligible entry has the same chance, and you can decide whether winners stay in the draw.

How to use it

  1. Paste up to 100 names, one per line or separated by commas. Select Use This Name List to replace the sample, or add names to the current list.
  2. Leave Allow repeat winners unchecked to pick each entry once per round. Check it if every entry should stay eligible after each pick.
  3. Select Pick a random name. Continue picking from the eligible entries, or select Start new round to make every entry eligible again.

Ideas to try

  • Take turns in class

Add each student's name once and leave repeats off. Start a new round when everyone has had a turn.

  • Choose a game-night host

Enter the people who are available, then pick one name. Edit the list when availability changes.

Common questions

What happens if I add the same name twice?

Duplicate names remain separate entries. A person entered twice has two chances while both entries are eligible and can appear twice in a no-repeat round. Remove accidental duplicates, or add initials to distinguish people who share a name.

How is the winning name chosen?

The picker uses your browser's cryptographic random-number generator with rejection sampling, so every currently eligible entry has equal odds. The on-screen shuffling is an animation; it does not give any name an extra chance.

Does starting a new round restore removed names?

No. Start new round clears the picking history and makes the entries still in your list eligible again. Remove winner deletes that entry from the list, so you would need to add it back yourself.
